The Saudi Balloon Federation was established in 2019 after the tremendous success of the Balloon Festival in the Winter at Tantora Festival, with the vision to create a vibrant community for hot air balloon enthusiasts within the global practice standards.

Aspiring to support the community and localise the sport, SAHAB provides an educational programme dedicated to training and qualifying professional internationally accredited pilots.

The federation is working diligently with local and international partners to carry out various events across the Kingdom, focusing on making AlUla the central destination for balloon sports and becoming a new memorable tourist attraction.

The federation initiatives include:

  • Launching centres for air balloon sports training.
  • Developing practical and diversified training activities in collaboration with worldwide trainers and experts.
  • Hosting international air balloon sports events and festivals.

Training programmes

Up to international
standards

  • The first programme for training air balloon pilots in the Middle East
  • Enable trainees to obtain a certified license by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)
  • Provide trainees with memberships to participate in air balloon sports activities
  • Enable trainees to participate in international events
  • All trainees receive a monthly grant and insurance
  • Incentive bonuses are provided to outstanding trainees

We are working on developing training programmes in the field of air balloon sport based on international certified practices and methods of teaching in line with the needs of the modern generation, with a focus lies on interactive and practical training to increase the quality and effectiveness of the programme.
